  • The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is the primary agency charged with overseeing K-12 public education in Washington State, including special education.

Office of the Education Ombuds (OEO) - www.oeo.wa.gov
  • The Office of the Education Ombuds supports families and schools in resolving concerns that impact students in the K-12 pubic school system in Washington.  They also provide information and trainings for families and communities to help to reduce the opportunity gap.


Disability Rights Washington - www.disabilityrightswa.org
  • Disability Rights Washington protects the rights of people with disabilities in Washington State.  Their mission is to advance dignity, equality and self-determination of people with disabilities.  They pursue justice in matters of human and legal rights.


Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) - www.pesb.wa.gov
  • The PESB ensures that Washington's educator workforce is composed of highly effective professional educators.  PESB works towards this vision by creating innovative policies that improve and support educator quality, workforce development and diversity.  
    • PESB administers the Washington Paraeducator Board which oversees standards of practice for paraeducators in Washington

Informing Families - www.informingfamilies.org     
  • Informing Families is a resource provided by the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, in collaboration with the Developmental Disabilities Administration and other partners throughout the state.  They offer trusted news and information to individuals and families that empower them to be active participants in planning and building network of support and opportunities.
