Join the Roots of Inclusion Board of Directors

Help us create communities where every child and family experiences unconditional belonging.

At Roots of Inclusion, we believe in a world where every child and family experience unconditional belonging, their dignity and contributions are valued, and they thrive in inclusive, accessible, and equitable communities.  We are looking for individuals who share our vision and are ready to help guide our work by serving on our Board of Directors.

About Roots of Inclusion

Roots of Inclusion partners with families, youth, educators, and community members to confront and change systems that continue to exclude children and youth with disabilities.

We center community voice, lived experience, and anti-oppression values in all that we do. Through training, tools, and collaborative partnerships, we:
  • Build inclusive learning environments
  • Support authentic family engagement
  • Advocate for policy change that dismantle systemic barriers

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking individuals who:
  • Are deeply commitment to equity, disability justice, and racial justice
  • Have lived experience navigating education, health, employment, or community systems
  • Reflect the communities most impacted by exclusion and marginalization
  • Believe in systems change through relationships, collaboration, and action
  • Are excited to learn in public and lead with humility
We especially welcome applications from people with disabilities, BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA+ individuals, immigrants and refugees, and youth leaders who want to be part of creating lasting change.

Board Member Expectations

Board members are asked to:
  • Commit to a 2-year renewable term
  • Attend quarterly meetings (virtual or hybrid)
  • Explore opportunities to contribute to the board's work in ways that align with your interest and capacity
  • Support sustainability through fundraising, strategy, or community outreach

We recognize and honor different ways of contributing, whether that is through policy knowledge, financial insight, storytelling, organizing, or lived experience.  Support and flexibility are built into how we work together.

Why Join Us?

Joining the board of Roots of Inclusion is an opportunity to:
  • Lead with purpose in advancing disability justice
  • Help shape the direction of a growing, values-drive organization
  • Collaborate with a welcoming and inclusive team
  • Amplify voices of families and youth to influence real change
  • Learn, grow, and lead in community
