October is Disability History and Awareness Month
Disability History and Awareness Month in Washington is an opportunity to focus on and recognize the contributions of individuals with disabilities and to commit to building a more inclusive and equitable society. Since 2008 in Washington state each public school is required to conduct or promote educational activities that provide instruction, awareness, and understanding of disability history and people with disabilities. The One Out of Five: Disability History and Pride project developed by the Governor's Office of the Education Ombuds, and produced by Rooted in Rights, provides resources for schools and communities.

Commitment to Social Justice
We will listen, we will examine, and we will act.
We at Roots of Inclusion stand and act in solidarity to end systemic and institutionalized racism and to work for social justice. We know that centering anti-racism and anti-ablism is the only way to address the inequity and injustice that pervade our systems and ensure that every person exists and thrives within the circle of human concern.
