BUILDING A MORE INCLUSIVE SOCIETY, TOGETHER

At Roots of Inclusion we amplify the voices of youth and families to promote equity, inclusion, and belonging in our schools and communities.  We work in relationship with others to understand the systems and structures that perpetuate exclusion while ensuring that systems are moving toward inclusion.

We envision a society where every individual experiences unconditional belonging, their human dignity and unique contributions are valued, and they learn, live, and work in equitable, inclusive and accessible communities.

The Latest from Roots of Inclusion

October is Disability History and Awareness Month

Picture
Disability History and Awareness Month in Washington is an opportunity to focus on and recognize the contributions of individuals with disabilities and to commit to building a more inclusive and equitable society.  Since 2008 in Washington state each public school is required to conduct or promote educational activities that provide instruction, awareness, and understanding of disability history and people with disabilities.  The One Out of Five: Disability History and Pride project developed by the Governor's Office of the Education Ombuds, and produced by Rooted in Rights, provides resources for schools and communities.

October is
National Disability Employment Awareness Month
Each October we observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The theme of the 2024 observation is "Access to Good Jobs for All" and the purpose is to confirm a commitment to ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs every day of the year.

Commitment to Social Justice

We will listen, we will examine, and we will act.

We at Roots of Inclusion stand and act in solidarity to end systemic and institutionalized racism and to work for social justice. We know that centering anti-racism and anti-ablism is the only way to address the inequity and injustice that pervade our systems and ensure that every person exists and thrives within the circle of human concern.
