Beyond Barriers
Disrupting Racism and Ableism to Build Belonging in Schools

WHEN: May 28, 2025, 4:00 to 5:30 PM (Pacific Time)
WHERE: Live via Zoom (includes captioning and multiple modes of participation)

FREE TO ATTEND
REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Hosted by Roots of Inclusion
Event Description:
Schools often separate conversations about racism and ableism — but these forces are deeply interconnected, shaping who feels they belong.

Join us as we welcome Carrie Basas and Heidi Sohn for an interactive 90-minute session exploring how racism and ableism show up in education — and how we can move from disruption to reimagining.

Through storytelling, real-world examples, and practical tools, we will:
- Identify how systems reinforce exclusion, even with good intentions.
- Share mindsets and strategies for creating spaces of true belonging.
- Reflect on first steps we can take in our own schools and communities.
This webinar has been developed for educators, family advocates, school leaders, and community partners.
Accessibility:
  • Live captioning provided. Multiple ways to engage (chat, polls, reactions).
  • Participants requesting additional accommodations should contact Jennifer Karls at [email protected] no later than May 18, 2025.
